The Fort Carré was one of the first fortified strongholds to be built in the Renaissance under the orders of the King of France, Henri II. It was used to guard the nearby border with the County of Nice and to defend the town of Antibes. Its fascinating history, which sheds light on the whole of the region, its beautiful architecture based on mathematical principles, its rampart walkway (43 metres high) offering unbeatable views, and lastly the 4 hectares of protected gardens with typically Mediterranean flora and fauna make this monument a place well worth discovering.
Closed on 1 January, 1May, 1November and 25 December

Last visit 30 minutes before closing time
