"Space of Love" by MIA SHALY

Cypriot artist Mia Shaly presents her solo exhibition “SPACE OF LOVE”

Her paintings explore emotions — those we experience in everyday situations: a hug, a kiss, an argument, a morning when everything is just right. Painting these states has led her to explore five forms of love: self-love, love between two people, a parent’s love for their child, the love of friends and community, and the existential love of life, nature and the Universe.
These emotions transcend borders and cultures. They are deeply intimate and yet instantly recognisable — a language understood wherever one comes from.
Alongside her painting, Mia Shaly reads extensively on neurobiology. She began painting these emotional states before she could put into words what was happening in the body. Her interest in the science of human connection now informs the way she talks about her work — including how a hug or a kiss can reduce stress and improve mood.
