Clean & Collect with Emergence

Clean and Collect is a citizen science programme launched in 2020 by the Émergence association to gain a better understanding of the origin and nature of the litter found along the Mediterranean coastline. It brings together volunteers, members of the public and partners in a scientific, educational and practical initiative to protect the marine environment.

Beyond the collection of scientific data, Clean and Collect also serves as a key awareness-raising initiative: participants gain a first-hand understanding of the diversity of waste found on beaches and become aware of its origins and its impact on marine wildlife, particularly the sea turtles monitored by the Émergence association.
