To end a very unusual 2020 on a high note, the Picasso Museum presents a unique display made possible by a new collaboration with the Musée National Picasso-Paris.
Eight exceptional paintings by Picasso from its collections, dating from 1906 to 1970, are being installed in the large room on the first floor of the Antibes Museum, like so many family portraits of the host during an autumn at Château Grimaldi: a self-portrait from 1906, with Egyptian hieraticism reminiscent of the portraits of the Fayoum, a portrait of his son Paul as Pierrot, a Marie-Thérèse sitting in front of the window, or even The Shadow, to evoke his separation from Françoise Gilot in 1953...
These eight paintings will allow visitors to re-contextualise the collection of the Picasso Museum in Antibes by showing rare works - since they remained in the artist's collection until his death.
